Liechtenstein is the only one inside Schengen; the other four form enclaves reached only through Schengen soil. So entering any enclave means a prior Schengen entry, which in turn requires ETIAS. Even a day trip to Monaco triggers the usual ETIAS + 90/180 rules on your French entry. See our Schengen vs EU guide. The main road crosses the Pyrenees via the Envalira Pass at 2,408 metres — Europe’s highest paved pass. France and Spain check passports sporadically when you re-enter Schengen from Andorra, so keep your ETIAS approval handy. Andorra uses the euro but does not stamp passports, so your Schengen day count stays unchanged. Trains from Nice pull into Monaco-Monte-Carlo with no identity checks at all. French rules still apply on entry and exit, so any day in Monaco counts against your Schengen 90/180. The Republic keeps its own flag and border stamps, yet immigration is shared with Italy. Crossing back into Italy counts as remaining inside Schengen for ETIAS purposes. San Marino customs can still apply when you bring goods back into the EU. There are no passport controls at entry, though St Peter’s Square runs daily crowd-management checks. It shares a customs union with Switzerland. Entry from Austria or Switzerland is a single ETIAS event. Travellers hop between Vaduz and Zurich with no extra paperwork. Each sets its own VAT rules, so cosmetics, tobacco and jewellery may exceed duty allowances when you return to the EU. The personal allowance is €430 per traveller into Schengen. Contactless cards dominate Monaco, while cash is still common in smaller San Marino shops. ATMs are reliable everywhere, though expect higher foreign-exchange fees. San Marino dates to 301 CE and remains the world’s oldest republic. Monaco’s Grimaldi dynasty has ruled since 1297, while Liechtenstein became a sovereign principality in 1719. Each blends deep history with modern pragmatism: close ties to a larger Schengen neighbour, no standing army and a healthy tourism economy. The Vatican City State, formed in 1929 under the Lateran Treaty, remains the smallest sovereign state on earth by area.

각 마이크로 스테이트에 대한 대중교통 접근성

Andorra is reachable by bus from Barcelona and Toulouse in 3–4 hours; there is no rail connection. Monaco has the TER rail line from Nice in 25 minutes, plus a direct TGV from Paris. San Marino is reached by Bonelli bus from Rimini in 50 minutes. Vatican City sits within walking distance of Termini Station in Rome. Public transport keeps costs low and slots easily into ETIAS-budgeted multi-country trips.

마이크로 스테이트 내 숙박 옵션

Monaco hotels start at €180 per night off-season, while Andorra ski chalets average €120. San Marino keeps a handful of family-run guesthouses from €80. Vatican City itself has no tourist accommodation — visitors stay in Rome. Basing yourself in the surrounding city and day-tripping often works better, especially for Monaco, where prices soar during Grand Prix weekend.

마이크로 스테이트의 계절별 방문 팁

Andorra’s ski season runs December to April, with summer hiking from June to September. Monaco’s Grand Prix weekend (late May) books up 12 months ahead. San Marino’s medieval festivals peak in July and August. For any of these peak dates, book 6-8 months in advance. Shoulder-season visits to Vatican City in October or March dodge the worst crowds.

마이크로 스테이트의 사진 및 연결

Mobile networks in all four enclaves roam onto host-country networks. Monaco Telecom offers free Wi-Fi at the casino square and port. Andorran and San Marino networks are fully 4G/5G but may bill separately from Schengen roaming plans. Check your SIM plan before you travel, and switch on airplane-mode safeguards if needed.

기념품 및 현지 공예품

Andorran perfumeries and duty-free liquor shops are famous. San Marino trades in medieval weaponry reproductions and collectible stamps. Monaco’s luxury boutiques line Boulevard des Moulins. Vatican City issues its own commemorative coins and stamps. Each micro-state leaves you with a distinct shopping memory.

바티칸 시국 방문 - 보안 및 복장 규정

Vatican City requires modest dress for St Peter’s Basilica and the Sistine Chapel: shoulders and knees covered. Security scans every bag and confiscates pocket knives. Entry is free for the Basilica but €17 for the Vatican Museums. Plan an early-morning slot to avoid the 2-hour queues.

취리히에서 출발하는 리히텐슈타인 당일 여행

Zurich to Vaduz by rail takes 90 minutes via Sargans. A day trip runs about CHF 60 on public transport. Vaduz’s castle, treasury museum and Alpine views make it a popular stop. Liechtenstein stays the simplest micro-state to visit on a Schengen loop.

5개 영토 투어를 위한 예산 계획 세우기

Five enclaves — Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, Vatican City and Liechtenstein — cost around €2,200 combined, including flights, transfers and mid-range hotels. Of that, the ETIAS fee is a trivial €20. This route is a genuine ETIAS-era bucket-list item. Plan it at least three months ahead for the best rates.

Planning a trip to Europe’s ETIAS micro-states — Andorra, Monaco and San Marino — requires understanding a subtle but important […]

ETIAS micro-states guide 2026: how Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, Vatican City and Liechtenstein fit the Schengen system for short visits.
[115,11

post-1323","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-etias-countries-travel","category-etias-destination-countries
<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.0 -
