Most routine business tasks fit neatly inside the tourism profile that a travel authorisation covers. Attending internal company meetings, visiting clients, sitting in on trade fairs and negotiating contracts are all allowed, provided you earn no local salary. The line is simple: you can represent your employer, but you cannot take up paid employment on Schengen soil.<\/p>

Receiving training also qualifies, and so does unpaid public speaking. Remember that the 90-day limit covers the whole area at once, so days in Berlin, Milan and Amsterdam all count toward one total. The authorisation stops where paid work begins. Hands-on installation, maintenance and any task that generates local income need a proper work permit, not a travel document. Paid public speaking is frequently disallowed, and staffing a trade-fair stand can trip national rules that differ from one Member State to the next.<\/p>

The safest test is whether a local employer or client pays you directly. If they do, ETIAS almost certainly does not cover it. Most approvals arrive within minutes, though some cases take up to four days when extra checks are triggered. Submit at least 96 hours before you book flights so a delayed decision never derails your plans.<\/p>

Have your passport, travel dates and employer details ready before you start. The fee is waived for applicants under 18 and over 70. Because the authorisation is tied to the passport you enter, renewing that passport means reapplying – so check its expiry date first.<\/p>\n\n\n
